It’s new year once again and most of the Filipino families would prepare the 12 round fruits. Twelve because it represents the 12 months in a year, from January to December. It is believed that preparing round fruits so that money will come during the year. The round shape represents money as coin is round or circular shape. You can prepare maybe orange, grapes, apple, pear, melon, pomelo and many other round fruits. If there are scarcity of round fruits during the New Year’s Eve, some would take the alternative such mango or pineapple. Though this kind of practice is absolutely superstitious, but some would just prepare to have fun during the media noche. It is better to prepare fruits rather than preparing the unhealthy food such lechon and other oily food. Surely, this practice is not really true because if this is true not one Filipino is suffering poverty. It must be noted that hard work would make one successful. But prepare anyway to enjoy approaching the New Year. Happy New Year from the administration of IliganCity.Ph!
Christmas is fast approaching. Few days from now, we will celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. It is but normal to celebrate the Christmas season for the christians. We have different attitude in celebrating Christmas, some will put up lanterns, or series lights, or maybe will put up a Christmas tree but the most important of all is the “Simba’ng Gabi”. Never forget also wrapping gifts for our love ones. The Barangay council of Palao, Iligan City has also its unique way of celebrating Christmas. They assure that the barangay will have the spirit of Christmas that can be felt by the constituents by putting lights right at the foot of the Buhanginan Hills.
This endeavour is made possible through the effort of the Barangay Captain, Boy Niez, and the Barangay Council. It was also made possible by some donations of some concerned citizens by donating the bulbs and Christmas lights. Look at another picture below.
