Thousands of supporters of the political party of Badelles-Regencia-Veracruz (BRV for brevity) attended the rally, opening of the local election campaign period in the public plaza in Iligan City today, March 27, 2016. The opening of the campaign period was supposed to start last March 25, 2016 but it fall on Good Friday which explicitly prohibited by law. Hence, candidates started their campaign on the 26th of March. The supporters worn red shirts to signify their support to the BRV group. The supporters together with the BRV candidates, started their walk from Landbank-Palao and proceeded to the public public plaza to canduct rally to explain their platforms for the city of Iligan. The group was headed by Tikbong Badelles, a candidate for congressman and Jemar Veracruz, a candidate for vice mayor. City Mayor Celso Regencia, who seek for re-election, was not able to attend because he is still detained at the Iligan City Jail because of his non-bailable case filed by the encumbent congressman in Iligan City. However, supporters still attend because they still believed that their mayor is innocent for the case filed against him.
